Clintel Hasan to Depart Milwaukee Succeeds
After four years of spearheading Milwaukee Succeeds’ high school success work, Strategic Initiatives Manager Clintel Hasan is departing the organization, having decided to focus her time on education consulting. Her final day will be January 19.
“We have an incredible team,” she said in her final Youth Forward MKE Coalition meeting on December 13. “We’ve got an incredible group of young people who have been with us from the beginning. I’m excited to see this work continue to grow beyond me.”
In her time with Milwaukee Succeeds, Clintel has worked tirelessly to define what the organization’s high school success work looks like and how youth and adults can authentically collaborate to see it through. This includes the 2021 Design Your Future Fellowship, where 58 young people created plans to improve high school for Black male youth, as well as the launch of the Youth Forward MKE Coalition in 2022.
“Her leadership in building our high school success work and the Youth Forward MKE Coalition cannot be overstated,” said Vincent Lyles, Milwaukee Succeeds’ executive director. “Clintel has demonstrated what it looks like to authentically invest in youth leadership and truly hold racial equity at the center of our work.”
Catina Harwell-Young, director of engagement and culture, echoed that sentiment. “We’ve spent years trying to build a platform where people feel valued and want to be a part of this work. And none of this would have been possible without the work of Clintel,” she said. “She has been our fearless leader, thinking differently about how we engage young people.”
After Clintel’s departure, Milwaukee Succeeds and Youth Forward MKE will continue to build on the incredible groundwork she’s laid. This includes continuing the implementation of the Design Your Future proposals, the launch of the Autonomous Youth Council later this year and the ongoing work to measure and bolster youth adult equity across Milwaukee.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Clintel assured the coalition. “I will still be here in Milwaukee advocating for our young people and helping folks be better.”
