The Autonomous Youth Council Embarks on Partner Placements
In July, 26 young leaders from across Milwaukee began a journey of advocacy, empowerment and community-building as the inaugural cohort of the Autonomous Youth Council (AYC). Now they are poised to take their next big step: partner placements. Starting in February, AYC members will be embedded within various organizations across Milwaukee to put their training into practice.

Activating our Youth: Inside the Autonomous Youth Council
This summer, 26 young people from across Milwaukee gathered together to forge a path toward a brighter future. These passionate individuals formed the inaugural cohort of our Autonomous Youth Council (AYC), a groundbreaking initiative designed by youth, for youth. Fueled by the insights of over 300 youth and community members, the AYC is a paid opportunity that aims to empower young advocates to actively engage in and shape the decisions that affect them.
Empowering Milwaukee’s Youth: A Story of Leadership, Power and Change
At Youth Forward MKE's October 9 meeting, students, educators and community leaders gathered with one goal in mind: creating a brighter future for our youth. The discussion ranged from the success of the Autonomous Youth Council summer session, to the launch of the Fall Academy and the coalition’s broader policy efforts. Together, the group is laying the groundwork for a more equitable education system, driven by youth and community voice.
